I think I sent this to the wrong email address (Yeah, right)
    the first time.

    Subject: X problem

I have a serious problem with my Ubuntu computer. I hope to someone in NLUG
it is an easy problem to solve.

Apparently the x configuration file has gotten corupted. Startx does not
    work.

It is possible to login, but not to start x.

Unfortunately I know nothing about Linux without x.

It started when I was using DrPython and the cursor changed to a + with a
border or box on top and the left side. When that happend I could not use
the mouse or exit normally. When I rebooted x would not load.

The Ubuntu live CD works fine, but won't let me login as normal or change
users to log in. I can't tell if it can even see the hard disk file
structure or has created a new file structure in memory.

The installation CD wants to format the hard drive which has data I want to
    save.

If you can help, I will bring the computer to your business location or home
and will be glad to pay for your efforts.

    Help!!
