    What I did with Mom's PC was boot from a live CD (Mandriva Move, in my
    case) & just "dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/hdb bs=1024". Of course, make DAMN
    SURE the original drive actually is /dev/hda and the new one /dev/hdb!
    (dmesg)

    This was Windows 98 but since it's a bit-by-bit copy I can't imagine it
    would matter which version of Windows.

    It will leave you with unpartitioned space if the new drive is bigger
    than the old one. There are of course several ways, both in Linux and
    Windows, to make use of that space.
