I have used the Firefox add-in in the past, and had a few minor issues with it, but nothing major. I have also recently starting using the google bookmark feature. The one big problem I have had with the google one is sometimes I forget to save the bookmark to both local and google.
Also if you have lots of bookmarks to keep track and have a bad habit of creating duplicates, you might want to check out this add-in as well.

There also used to be a add-in for checking bulk bookmarks for dead or invalid hyperlinks, but I can't find that one anymore. That one helped me get rid of a lot of bookmark baggage from over the years.
